Providing healthy tasty meals to schools

Waitoa Catering Ltd was formed in 2018 by British trained qualified chef Anna Bannon.  With 22 years of hotel and restaurant chef experience, 5 of those providing healthy School lunches in New Zealand. 
Waitoa Catering focuses on removing confectionary and overly processed food and replacing with tasty, nutritious options and a lunch that kids love to eat. 
The director has worked with a number of schools to design and implement a healthy and exciting menu and removed foods that had low to no nutrition value. Foods such as sugary fizzy drinks, chocolate bars, lollies, highly processed meats and fried foods were successfully replaced with healthier foods that are tasty and kid-friendly.
Seeing students come back again and again with a smile on their faces is the motivational driving force of the Company. We have a company motto of “Serve healthy food you would love to eat yourself”
Our company is actively collaborating with Schools and the Ministry of Education to supply tasty and nutritious lunches that children look forward to receiving.  It is important that lunches promote healthy bodies and minds as well as being tasty and nutritious
Waitoa Catering is aware that good nutrition is essential for the healthy growth and development of children and young people. Children and young people eat much of their food each weekday at school. Good nutrition affects students’ behaviour, learning, concentration and energy, as well as their physical health    
At Waitoa Catering we actively support the local economy by using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients and employing within the local community. Local independent retailers return more than three times as much money per dollar of sales to the community in which they operate, and the use of local staff ensures community involvement and financial stability benefits the region.
We are mindful to be proactive with the use of resources, minimising wastage, and developing environmentally friendly solutions for School lunches. Wherever possible environmentally positive solutions for packaging and utensils are used to support forward-thinking New Zealand Companies that strive for the minimisation of waste to the New Zealand eco-system.
Waitoa Catering is collaboratively working with the Schools and Ministry of Education to support healthy learning.
